Citations are the most widely accepted measure of research strength of an institution, and the impact and quality of a researcher’s work in a scholarly field. Citation analysis involves counting how many times a paper or researcher is cited. Synopsis
Some research have shown that the journals in which papers are published have an influence on their citation rates. Journal Citation Reports® offers a systematic means of evaluating leading journals using quantifiable, statistical information based on citation data. By compiling articles' cited references, JCR measures research influence and impact at the journal and category levels, and shows the relationship between citing and cited journals.
