Computer Science E-Resources Online Guide
- Finding articles - Databases
are useful to identify articles in journals, papers in conference
proceedings, chapters in books, reports and reviews. This are also
known as Index and Abstract. It will provide citations (the source
of the article), abstracts (brief descriptions of the articles
content) or full text articles (the article in its entirety). Review
articles from databases summarize the current state of research
on a subject by organizing, synthesizing, and critically evaluating
the relevant literature written for specialists. The bibliography
in a review article is usually exhaustive.
- Encyclopedias & Dictionaries
and Handbooks provide background information, definitions and
explanations of terms. Because of the nature of computer science,
many paper versions of these materials get out of date quickly. Some
online resources from societies and institutes are listed here instead.
