Metasites

PharmWeb contains substantial information on pharmacy-related resources.  These include job listings, conferences and meetings, real-time discussion forum, related discussion groups and mailing lists, newsgroups, information on the use of drugs and medicines, directories of people in the health professions, world-wide pharmacy schools, companies, pharmacies, hospitals, international government and regulatory bodies, pharmaceutical and health-related societies.  This site is created and directed by Antony D'Emanuele and it is the result of the support of major pharmaceutical and health-related organisations.

 

Directories

Pharmacy related Academic Institutions on the Internet is subdivided by countries and is maintained by the Department of Pharmacy, University of Manchester.

Pharmacy related Government and Regulatory Bodies is subdivided by countries and contains links to the various agencies.  Maintained by the Department of Pharmacy, University of Manchester.

PharmWeb Yellow Pages enables you to search for addresses and home pages of companies, pharmacies, hospitals, etc. on the Internet. This database is maintained by the Department of Pharmacy, University of Manchester.

PharmWeb Directory is a searchable biographical database of people working in pharmacy and related areas maintained by the Department of Pharmacy, University of Manchester.

Drugs and poisons

Drugs@FDA by Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, U.S. Food and Drug Administration. A catalog of FDA approved drug products. Includes approved and tentatively approved prescription, over-the-counter, and discontinued drugs, as well as drug approval letters, labels, and review packages. Search by Drug Name or Active Ingredient, as well as application number (NDA, ANDA, BLA) and action dates of application approvals and supplements

Cutaneous Reaction Database is maintained by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Dartmouth College, Lebanon. This is a database of drug reactions that have skin manifestations. Information in this database is organized alphabetically by the drug name.

 

Glossary

Glossary of technical and popular medical terms in eight European languages gives a multilingual glossary of technical and medical terms. It is maintained by Heymans Institute of Pharmacology and Mercator School, Dept of Applied Linguistics.

 

Multimedia

Programmed Problem sets in Pharmacology is maintained by David H. Farb, Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Boston University School of Medicine. This is a multimedia tutorial with text and images. These programs are not intended to provide comprehensive reviews of the topics covered, nor is it intended that your use of the programs will be an alternative to your use of your textbook, lecture notes, hand-outs, etc. for study. Rather, the programs are supplements to other methods of study.

 

Government Agencies

U.S. Food and Drug Administration is an electronic source of information by FDA, a government consumer protection agency in the United States. Includes the fulltext of FDA Consumer Magazine, press releases and backgrounders. Also lists FDA approved drugs.

U.S. National Institutes of Health home page includes news & events, health information and scientific resources of the NIH.

Virtual Library : Pharmacy is maintained by D. Bourne, University of Oklahoma. It includes pharmacy web sites world-wide, pharmacy related databases, listserves, mailing lists, newsgroups, hospital directories, etc.

The Virtual-Pharmacy Center is maintained by Martindale's Health Science Guide and gives a comprehensive listing of various pharmacy related sites.

Yahoo : Health, Pharmacy lists sites on pharmacy-related conferences, institutions, drugs, employment, journals, organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and pharmacies.
