Journals on the Internet

BioMedNet
Provides information for biological and medical researchers.  It has a full-text library containing hundreds of biological and medical publications with abstracts and selected full-text articles free.  It also includes Evaluated MEDLINE, HMS Beagle -- a daily webzine with scientific news and views, a job exchange listing hundreds of jobs around the world, as well as links to bookshops, discussion groups, conference listings and shopping mall. Registration is free but required.

MedScape : The Online Resource for Better Patient Care
Features useful information such as free access to full-text, peer-reviewed clinical medicine articles, clinical journals, medical news, conference calendar, forums for member discussions, etc.   Other tools include annotated links to Internet resources, Drug Search by First DataBank, a medical dictionary by Merriam Webster, practice guidelines, diagnostic techniques, and clinical calculators.  Registration is free but required.   This site is maintained by a team of individuals from diverse backgrounds, headed by Alan Patricof.

Biomedical Journals
A comprehensive listing of biomedical journals arranged alphabetically by journal title.  Maintained by an Italian librarian at Università degli Studi di Cagliari, Biblioteca Centrale dell'Area Biomedica.  For each title, the availability of table of contents, abstracts, full-text, and selected articles are indicated. 

DOAJ : Directory of Open Access Journals
Directory is maintained by the Lund University Libraries. The listing covers more than 1000 free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. Some journals are searchable at article level.

Doctor's Guide to Complete Internet Medical Resources
An extensive, alphabetical listing of online journals maintained by a medical commercial site, call P\S\L Consulting Group Inc.. Links to publishers homepages where current full-text issues, abstracts, subscription information may be available to users.

FreeMedicalJournals.com
Promotes free access of medical journals over the Internet. Lists many important medical journals which are  available online, free and in full-text, and by periods of free access and their impact factors. Journals are also categorized by titles or subjects or languages. The site also includes Journal Alerts for new free medical journals.

HighWire Press' free online full-text articles
A division of the Stanford University Libraries, HighWire 'partners with influential scholarly societies, university presses and publishers to create a collection of the finest, fully searchable research and clinical literature online'. This site also lists online free full-text journals (mostly back issues) published online with the assistance of HighWire Press.

MedWorld : Biomedical and Clinical Journals On-Line
An independent Stanford medical student website sponsored by the Stanford medical Alumni Association.  Boasts of the most comprehensive listing of medical journals on the Internet.  Each annotated title contains a clear indication of what is available to users, including abstracts, back issues, current issues, full-text, table of contents, etc.

PubMed Central
PMC provides an alphabetical list of participating on-line journals. 'The U.S. National Library of Medicine's digital archive of life sciences journal literature'. Links to back issues, current issues, abstracts, table of contents, full-text and PDF formats of the articles.

SickleHut Medical Links
Provides a listing of over 100 medical journals by medical specialty.  Links to publishers' homepages where subscription information, abstracts, table of contents and sample issues may be available.
