     Interactive Atlases

The Digital Anatomist Program is a database of interactive atlases and is maintained by Stelly Volley, Department of Biological Structure, University of Washington. Contains 2-D and 3-D views of the brain from cadaver sections, MRI scans and computer reconstructions.

The Whole Brain Atlas is an atlas database maintained by the Departments of Radiology and Neurology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Countway Library of Medicine, Digital Equipment Corporation and the American Academy of Neurology. This is an information resource for central nervous imaging which integrates clinical information with magnetic resonance, x-ray computed tomography and nuclear medicine images. Very large database of images, movies and case histories.

Anatomy Modules  is an atlas database on diagnostic radiology of the Courseware for Anatomy. This database is maintained by University of Washington, School of Medicine. The Radiologic Anatomy demonstration begins with images on knee, distal thigh, temporomandibular joint tutorial, hallus valgus, skeleton, muscle, and shoulder.

The Visible Human Project is a database which links visual knowledge forms to symbolic knowledge formats such as the names of body parts. The amazing part of this database is a anatomically detailed, 3-D representations of the male and female human body. This database is maintained by the National Library of Medicine.

The Heart Preview Gallery is a database maintained by the Franklin Institute Science Museum. You can have a tour of the heart and discover the complexities of its development and structure.

The Bartleby.com edition of Gray’s Anatomy of the Human Body features 1,247 vibrant engravings—many in color—from the classic 1918 publication.

A musculoskeletal atlas of the human body by Carol Teitz, Dan Graney and maintained by the University of Washington. The database contains more than 80 anatomical images of upper and lower extremities.

Electronic Anatomy Museum by Prof. Gopalakrishnakone from the Department of Anatomy at the National University of Singapore. Features an atlas of human anatomy.

Human Skeletal Anatomy by the Department of Anatomy at National University of Singapore. Features an atlas of human skeletal anatomy.


    Videodiscs
Slice of Life is a database which contains digitized images from the Slice of Life videodisc. The Slice of Life project promotes innovative methods of teaching and learning for medical education using images from videodiscs. This database is maintained by Andre St. Pierre, Eccles Health Sciences Library. The Digital Slice of Life by Suzanne S. Stensaas, Ph.D. and O.E. Millhouse, M.D. containing 1100 images is also available on the Internet.  You may search for multimedia materials at the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library via their Multimedia Catalog.
