How to Search INSPEC: Numerical indexing
This is a controlled indexing for numerical data for records after 1987.
This field only uses certain representation for each data. For full details, check the Numerical Data Indexing Thesaurus by IEE
Some examples of these representation are:
- Quantity - frequency, temperature, time
- Value - in floating point format
- Unit
- Hertz for frequency
- Kelvin for temperature
- Seconds for time
- Tesla for Magnetic flux density
Some calculation is required to convert the search data to the above unit of measurement before the search. The conversion is available at Numerical Data Indexing Thesaurus by IEE.
For example:
- Frequency of 50 Hertz is also frequency 5.0E+01 Hz
- Temperature range of 0 to 100 degrees Celsius is also temperature 2.73E+02 to 3.73E+02 K
Enter the following expressions into the Advanced Search Form for the above 2 examples:
- numerical-data (frequency 5.0E+01 Hz)
- numerical-data (temperature 2.73E+02 to 3.73E+02 K)
