How to search databases

Citing References

Here are some instructions on how to locate those citing references (who have cited your article. Your work may be a journal article, a conference paper, a book chapter or even a patent document.).

Only when the list of published references are added to a database, then you would be able to find if your work has been cited in any of those publications.

Searching reference information is very much dependent on the style and format used by the author (who have cited your work) when he cite the references.

For cited works in books, you may like to try:

For cited works in the Arts, Humanities, Business, & Social Sciences field, you may like to use a combination of the following databases to find who have cited your work:

• ISI Web of Knowledge - Arts and Humanities Citation & Social Science Citation Indexes
• ABI-Inform
• Expanded Academic ASAP Int'l Ed
• Factiva
• JSTOR
• ScienceDirect

For cited works in the Sciences, you may like to use a combination of the following databases to find who have cited your work:

• ISI Web of Knowledge - Science Citation Index
• SciFinder Scholar
• ScienceDirect
• MathSciNet
• IEEE Xplore
• JSTOR
