A bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles from a wide
range of social sciences journals. Covers the latest concepts, trends,
opinions, theories, and methods from both applied and theoretical aspects of
the social sciences.
An abstracting and indexing database including cited references of
peer-reviewed titles from international publishers in the sciences and
social sciences.

PERIND, 1980-
Librarian's take: Very useful index to journal articles, book reviews, book
chapters and conference papers relating to Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and
ASEAN. Includes materials not indexed by other databases. Excellent for Area
and Social Studies.
Provides indexed and full-text articles from sources covering rather wide
ranging sources in Social
Sciences, Humanities, Education, Science and Technology.
Selected theses & academic exercises received from the
NUS Sociology are kept in the Library's Closed
Stacks under the call number HM15.
Foreign Theses
ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Database (PQDT)(E-Resource)
A database of dissertations and theses records from around the
world. Provides 24 page previews of selected dissertations and theses.
Natural language searching.
This is a list of customized "How to search" Library sessions teaching
users how to search specific databases, Library catalogue, etc. It may
include notes on how to use specific resources.

scientific discipline and profession. Provides listings of journals,
publications and large data-sets for public use to promote sociological
research.
Anthro.Net Contains reviewed web sites and bibliographic references for Social
Sciences particularly Anthropology and Archeology. Winner 'Best
Practices' award for original content. Covers evolutionary biology,
history, psychology and sociology materials.
American Anthropological
Association The "Section List & Links to Websites" lists
up-to-date sites with links to anthropology resources on the Internet
seen by the AAA as good starting points for exploring anthropological
materials available on the Internet.
Association for Applied and
Clinical Sociology A forum for sociologists and others interested in Applied & Clinical
Sociology. Listings of tools, organizations and resources for methods in
evaluation & social research.

Sociological Association A professional and charitable organisation representing sociologists in
Britain. Provides a network of communication to all who are concerned
with the promotion and use of sociology and sociological research.

A catalogue of links and information in sociology. Based at

Dead Sociologists' Society An introduction to the works of some of the big names in the history of
sociology.
Electronic Journal of Sociology
Sociology research papers that are both scholarly and accessible free of
charge. The scholars themselves retain control over all aspects of the

The Men's Bibliography
This online bibliography, created and maintained by Michael Flood provides
access to over 30 major categories on men and masculinities. Coverage
includes English-language materials published outside the US. The literature
referenced includes both cutting-edge research and general informative
works.
Social Science Research Network (SSRN)
SSRN eLibrary has 2 sections: Abstract database containing abstracts of over
150,400 scholarly working papers; an Electronic Paper collection containing
over 119,300 downloadable full text documents. Recipient of several
excellence awards.
Sociolog
Also known as 'Juian Dierkes' Comprehensive Guide to Sociology Online', the
site is a winner of various awards. It lists well-thought out resources in
economic and cultural sociology with the aim of encouraging innovative
projects through technology.

Designed for undergraduates, it aims to "feature commentary, data analyses,

A member of ICAAP, the site aims to
promote uncommercialised scholarly communication. Based at the University of
Amsterdam, it is a catalogue of links, sources, websites for sociologists.

An independent and useful guide to sociological resources on the internet.
Factiva
(E-Resource)
A reputable business information resource that allows searching for
timely news articles from major national and international newspapers,
trade journals, and wires, including The Wall Street Journal and The
Economist.
LexisNexis Academic(E-Resource)
Provides full text of hundreds of news sources including newspapers,
magazines, and newsletters. Pretty good about having boxes to fill in,
to help you in searching.
Press Clippings
Located in the Singapore - Malaysia Collection, Central Library. A
useful source for topical and current information that may not be available in
journals or books. Articles on Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and
ASEAN from The Straits Times and Business Times are arranged by broad
subjects.
