Databases are a good a place to begin research. They may contain articles
in journals, papers in conference proceedings, newspapers, chapters in
books, reports and reviews.
PubMed,
1950- PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes
over 17 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for
biomedical articles back to the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full text
articles and other related resources. Staff and students are encouraged to
access via NUS Libraries portal for seamless access to full articles
subscribed by the Libraries.

UpToDate UpToDate is specifically designed to answer the
clinical questions that
arise in daily practice and to do so quickly and easily so that it can be
used right at the point of care. Physician editors and authors review and
update the content on a continuous basis and a new, peer-reviewed version is
issued every four months. The published evidence is summarized and specific

(via OvidSP) Published by the American Psychological Association, PsycARTICLES is
recognized worldwide as a leading full text source for academic, research
and practice literature in psychology and related disciplines.

1872- (via OvidSP) PsycINFO is produced by the American Psychological Association. It
provides abstracts and bibliographic citations to articles in the field of
psychology and its related disciplines, including medicine, psychiatry,
nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, and linguistics.
The records in the database are drawn from over 1,400 journals in more than
30 languages, dissertations, books and book chapters. It includes empirical
studies, case studies, surveys, bibliographies, literature reviews,
discussion articles, and conference reports.
CSA Neurosciences Abstracts, 1982-
This database enables neuroscientists to keep abreast of major advances
within the field and their implications for other medical specialties. The
database covers all aspects of vertebrate and invertebrate neuroscience,
emphasizing basic research but also including such devastating neural
diseases as Alzheimer's. Updated monthly, it contains over 419,688 records as of December 2007.

PILOTS Database, 1871-
The PILOTS bibliographic database, covering the Published International
Literature On Traumatic Stress, is produced at the headquarters of the
National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in White River Junction,
Vermont. The PILOTS database is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs. Its goal is to include citations to all literature on
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental-health sequelae of
traumatic events, without disciplinary, linguistic, or geographical
limitations, and to offer both current and retrospective coverage. Updated
monthly. Contains over 33,165 records as of December 2007.
Faculty of 1000 Medicine
Faculty of 1000 Medicine is the next-generation literature evaluation and
awareness service for medicine. Based on the recommendations of a selected
faculty of nearly 2500 leading international researchers and clinicians, it
systematically highlights and reviews the most pertinent papers in any field
of medicine, including Psychiatry.

(1980-)is a significant multi-disciplinary index to scientific journals,
produced by the Institute of Scientific Information. Disciplines covered
include neuroscience and psychiatry. It is unique for its citation
index and related record search capability. Abstracts are available from
1991 onwards. Updated weekly.
This is a select list of reference sources that give background information

interest in mental health. Information on a large number of mental
disorders (including treatment and research) and psychiatric medications.
Includes both DSM-IV and ICD-10 criteria for each disorder listed and online
diagnostic testing for some disorders. Extensive list of Internet links by
disorder, including some links to journal articles.
