This subject guide covers resources available at the NUS Libraries. This is not a comprehensive subject guide, but rather a selective list of materials that are most useful for locating information in LAW.

Databases

Databases are a good a place to begin research. They may contain articles in journals, papers in conference proceedings, newspapers, chapters in books, reports and reviews.

CLJ Law*
Librarian's take: Malaysian legal database providing access to Malaysian legislation and cases reported in the Current Law Journal.

Factiva.com
Librarian's take: Access to local, national and international newspapers. Newspapers covered include The Straits Times, Business Times and The Times (UK). Useful for obtaining information on unreported judgments and the latest cases before the courts.

HeinOnline
Librarian's take: Full text image-based searchable database of legal periodicals. Database is particularly useful for its collection of older journals.

Index to Legal Periodicals and Books, 1981-
Librarian's take: Bibliographic database that cites articles from legal periodicals and indexes law books. Coverage is mainly Anglo-American.

Justis
Librarian's take: Database containing UK cases and statutes. Coverage of UK cases includes the Law Reports, Times Law Reports and Weekly Law Reports.

LawNet
Librarian's take: Local full text legal database containing Singapore legislation, cases, books and journal articles. Access by NUS Faculty of Law staff and students only.

LegalTrac, 1980-
Librarian's take: Indexes over 800 legal publications selected and sponsored by the American Association of Law Libraries. Coverage is mainly Anglo-American.

LexisNexis
Librarian's take: Possibly the most popular database for legal researchers containing an extensive range of legislation, law reports and law journals.

LexisNexis AU*
Librarian's take: Full text database containing Australian law reports not available in LexisNexis, Halsbury's Laws of Australia and Australian Current Law.

PERIND
Librarian's take: Index to journal articles and books chapters on Singapore and Malaysian law. This database is managed by the NUS Libraries.

Singapore Statutes Online
Librarian's take: Full text database of consolidated Singapore Acts managed by the Attorney-General's Chambers.

WestLaw
Librarian's take: Popular full text legal database containing an extensive range of legislation, law reports and law journals. Access by NUS Faculty of Law staff and students only.

Theses

NUS Theses

Selected theses & academic exercises received from the NUS Faculty of Law Dept are kept in the Library's Closed Stacks under the call number KE5009 .

Foreign Theses

Selected unpublished foreign theses, including British Library theses, are kept behind the Law Library's Loans Desk. UMI theses, on the other hand, are available in the Books collection. All foreign theses in the Law Library are shelved under the call number KB9.
