Databases are a good a place to begin research. They may contain articles
in journals, papers in conference proceedings, newspapers, chapters in
books, reports and reviews.Philosopher's
Index, 1940- The Philosopher's Index is the most important
bibliographical and abstracting service for philosophy research.
Philosophy and related interdisciplinary fields such as history,
theology, law and languages are indexed. Includes journals and books in
English are indexed. Selected books are also reviewed.

& Humanities Citation Index (via Web of Science),
1980- Librarian's take: A good starting point for searching full-text
journal articles in the humanities.

Librarian's take: This database offers a vast collection of indexed and

The Index to Theses with Abstracts includes dissertations and theses
accepted for higher degrees by the Universities of Great Britain and
Ireland. This comprehensive listing lists theses from as far back as

Guide to
Philosophy on the Internet
Peter Suber's guide is still a useful starting
point for research though it has not been updated since 2003.
Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy
Reference tool founded in 1995 and developed by James Fieser (general
editor) for the purpose of providing detailed scholarly information on
all areas of philosophy. Articles include adaptations from public
domain sources, adaptations written by the editor for classroom purposes
and original contributions by professional philosophers.
