Finding Statistical Data
When you need statistics to show the trends for your topic, or to back up your hypothesis, use the following statistical sources:
Singapore
Refer to the Yearbook of statistics, Singapore [HA1801 SYS available at CL Information Desk, HL Reference 8, LW Sing/Mal Coll, MD Reference, SC Reference].
It is a good place to start if you are not sure where to go as it summarises the statistical data available in Singapore, giving data for current year and previous years.Check Statistics on Singapore which is an annotated bibliography of statistical sources available, organised by broad topics. It includes Web sites for statistical information on Singapore.
SingStat Time Series (STS) Directory Online data is available in Excel format . This is recommended when you need to manipulate the data like for modelling or regression. STS data contains publicly available data compiled by the Dept of Statistics on Singapore. It is available to NUS students, with the authorisation of their supervisor and head of department.
- Obtain the request form from the Central Library Information Desk or print from PDF.
- Refer to the STS categories to fill the form to request for the data available.
- Obtain signatures of supervisor and head of department.
- Return form to Information Desk. Please give our staff up to four working days to download the data.
International
These Web databases available on the Library Portal have statistical data for many countries:

- Construction Infonet (Singapore)
- Realis: Real Estate Information System (Singapore)
For more statistical databases, go to the Library Portal, mouse over "E-Resources", then mouse over "Databases". Finally click on "By Type", and select "Statistical Data".Check Statistics on Asia-Pacific which is a bibliography of print and electronic resources available in NUS Library. Besides countries in the Asia Pacific, some statistical sources covering the world are included.
