Subject Search

Subject search help you find materials on a particular topic with the use of appropriate subject headings. Most of records in LINC are assigned controlled vocabulary terms or subject headings from the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and the Library of Medicine's Medical Science Subject Headings (MESH). MESH is only used in Medical Library.

Click on Subject.

At the search box, type in complete subject heading or the beginning of the subject heading, e.g. aged government policy (LCSH) or geriatic nursing (MESH)

A list of records with the subject words you typed is shown.

Click on the subject heading to view the items.

Browse the list and click on relevant records. Click on the box in the Mark column to mark and save that record.

When viewing the full record, take note of the Location and Call # of the item. Some records have table of contents attached showing the chapters in the book.

When viewing a relevant record, look at the other SUBJECTS used. Click on one of the subjects used to find other items on the same topic, e.g. Urban policy.

Click on Another Search to do another Subject search or click on Start Over to search by another option.
