Searching the Music Collection by Instrument Code

The search for music titles can also be done by codes as we have created a new index for musical instruments. This index only appears if you are searching the Music Collection. You do not see this option in the main LINC search page where you search for all libraries.

At the LINC Search page, click Music Collection.

At the next page, click Musical Instruments to search by musical instruments.

At the search screen, type the musical instrument code e.g. ka02 and press Enter.

The first two characters of the code indicate the instrument while the last two indicate the number of performers. That is ka02 will retrieve piano duets. The commonly used codes are given in this search screen.

Browse the list of records retrieved.

Click on the title to get the full display for the title.

Click Limit this search at the top frame to do narrow the results using other criteria like title or author.

Click Start Over at the top frame to do another search.
