ABI/Inform Complete (Proquest)

In ABI/Inform:
  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. Click on Export.
  4. Click on Export directly to ProCite, EndNote or Rference Manager.
  5. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.
  6. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”.

ACM Digital Library

In ACM Digital Library:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. To export an article, click on the link full citation under the article.
  3. Click on EndNote in the Display Formats.
  4. A dialogue box prompting “File Download” appears. Click Open.
  5. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.
  6. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”

 

Note:

Currently, you can only export one citation at a time in each .enw document, which has to be imported individually into EndNote X2 (http://portal.acm.org/faq_dl.cfm#14). For batch importing of multiple citations, you can combine multiple .enw documents into a single document (e.g. by using Notepad to copy and paste all citations into one document), making sure that you leave a single empty line in between citations.

AIDS and Cancer Research Abstracts

In AIDS and Cancer Research Abstracts:

  1. Perform search as normal.

  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.

  3. Click on the Save, Print, Email.

  4. Click on the Save button.

  5. Save the file as a .txt file onto your desktop.

    Open EndNote X2:
     

  6. Open an existing EndNote Library.
  7. On the menu bar, click on File -- >Import… . A dialogue box “Import” appears.
  8. Import data file: Browse for the saved file and Open
  9. Under Import option : select Other Filters…. Look for AIDS Cancer Res Abs (CSA). Click Choose.
  10. Click Import.
  11. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”.

In ASFA:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. Click on the Save, Print, Email.
  4. Click on the Save button.
  5. Save the file as a .txt file onto your desktop.

  6. Open an existing EndNote Library.
  7. On the menu bar, click on File -- >Import… . A dialogue box “Import” appears.
  8. Import data file: Browse for the saved file and Open.
  9. Under Import option : select Other Filters…. Look for ASFA (CSA). Click Choose.

Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals (BiblioLine)

In Avery Index:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. Click on Output tab to view list of marked references.
  4. Click on Export to database button. Select EndNote.
  5. A dialogue box prompting “File Download” appears. Click Open.
  6. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.
  7. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”

Bibliography of Asian Studies

Before performing the search in this database, please download the filter first into your PC's C drive:

  1. Download filter here.

  2. Click on Save. Under Save in: go to C drive\Program Files\EndNote X2\Filters.

  3. Save filter under File Name as Bib of Asian Studies.

  4. Click Save.

In Bibliography of Asian Studies (BAS):

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Click on add a bookbag to save the record(s).
  3. The bookbag should open in another window. If not, click on the bookbag menu bar to display it.
  4. After saving the records, go to the Bookbag window and click on Download Documents button.
  5. Save the file as a .txt file onto your desktop.

    Open EndNote X2:
     
  6. Open an existing EndNote Library.
  7. On the menu bar, click on File -- >Import… . A dialogue box “Import” appears.
  8. Import data file: Browse for the saved file and Open.
  9. Under Import option : select Other Filters…. Look for Bib of Asian Studies. Click Choose.
  10. Click Import.
  11. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”.

  1. Perform search as normal.

  6. Open an existing EndNote Library.
  7. On the menu bar, click on File -- >Import…. A dialogue box “Import” appears.
  8. Import data file: Browse for the saved file and Open.
  9. Import option : select Other Filters…. Look for RefWorks Import. Click Choose.
  10. Text translation: select Unicode (UTF-8)
  11. Click Import.

  2. Under each record to be saved, click the folder icon Add to folder
  3. At the right of screen, Click on Folder View. Saved records will be shown. Select the desired items to save.
  4. Click on the icon Export
  5. Select Direct Export to EndNote, ProCite, or Reference Manager.
  6. Click Save
  7. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.

  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. At the bottom of the screen, click on the icon Export Selected Citations.
  4. Export Type: Abstract and Citation
  5. File type: PC. Click Go.  
  6. A dialogue box prompting “File Download” appears. Click Save. Type a filename. Click Save.

Open EndNote X2:

  1. Open an existing EndNote Library.
  2. On the menu bar, click on File -- >Import… . A dialogue box “Import” appears.
  3. Import data file: Browse for the saved file in 6. and Open.
  4. Under Import option : select Other Filters…. Look for Cochrane Library (Wiley). Click Choose.
  5. Click Import.
  6. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”.

In Compendex:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. Click on Download.
  4. Click on RIS, EndNote, ProCite, Reference Manager and click on Download.
  5. A dialogue box prompting “File Download” appears. Click Open.
  6. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.

  6. Open an existing EndNote Library.

  10. Click Import.

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. Click on Marked Items at the top screen area.
  4. Click on Citations Tools.
  5. Select EndNote and click on Export.
  6. A dialogue box prompting “File Download” appears. Click Open.
  7. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.
  8. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”

Factiva

First, download Filter for Factiva at http://gethelp.library.upenn.edu/guides/software/endnote/Factiva.enf 
Usually, the filter should be saved to C:\Program Files\EndNote X2\Filters
 

  1. Next, perform a search in Factiva and then mark desired references by checking the box at the left of each one
  2. Use the "View As" pulldown menu to select "Full Article/Report plus Indexing"
  3. Click the "format for saving" icon (looks like a floppy disc) that is located on the left side of the screen directly above the records
  4. Select "Article format" on the drop-down menu
  5. Use the browser Save As command under the file menu to save the results as a text document.
     

Open EndNote X2:

  1. Open an existing EndNote Library.
  2. On the menu bar, click on File -- >Import…. A dialogue box “Import” appears.
  3. Import data file: Browse for the saved file in Step 5. above and Open.
  4. Import option:, select Other Filters…. Look for Factiva. Click Choose.
  5. Click Import.
  6. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”

Faculty of 1000 Medicine

In F1000 Medicine:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. Look for the "Send" button at the top area. At the right of this button, make sure "EndNote" is selected. Click on "Send" button.
  4. Click Open.
  5. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.
  6. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”.

FIAF: International Film Archive Database

In FIAF: International Film Archive Database:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. Click on diskette icon (screen top right).
  4. Click on Export to Procite, EndNote or Reference Manager.
  5. Click OK.
  6. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.
  7. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”.

  7. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.

In Geobase:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.

In Geodok:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. For each individual reference, under Export citation:. click on RIS to save the reference.
  3. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.
  4. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”.

Google Scholar

In Google Scholar:

  1. Click on the Scholar Preferences link which is located next to the Search box.
  2. In the Scholar Preferences window, scroll down to Bibliography Manager and choose the option: Show links to import citations into.....
  3. Select EndNote in the drop-down menu.
  4. Click on the Save Preferences button. Now when you undertake a Google Scholar search, you will see an Import into EndNote link after each reference.
  5. To save a Google Scholar reference into your EndNote library, click on the Import into EndNote link.
  6. A dialogue box prompting “File Download” appears. Click Open.
  7. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.
  8. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”.
     

Note: Setting preferences will not work if you have disabled cookies in your browser.


Currently, you can only export one citation at a time, which has to be imported individually into EndNote X2. For batch importing of multiple citations, first save each citation as a .enw file. Then combine multiple .enw documents into a single document (e.g. by using Notepad to copy and paste all citations into one document), making sure that you leave a single empty line in between citations.

In Humanities Abstracts:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. Click on Exporting/Citing at the bottom of the screen.
  4. At the Download Record(s) into: option, select The EndNote Filter.
  5. A dialogue box prompting “File Download” appears. Click Open.
  6. EndNote program will automatically load with a dialogue box, “Select a Reference Library”. Select an EndNote library previously created. Click Open.
  7. A dialogue box prompting “Choose An Import Filter” appears. Select “WilsonWeb”. Click Choose.
  8. The references are now saved into the EndNote library, under the group “Imported References”.

In ICONDA:

  1. Perform search as normal.
  2. Mark references to be imported into EndNote X2.
  3. At the top or bottom area of screen, under Result Format, select Direct Export
  4. Under Actions, click on Save.

Transfer References from EndNote Web into EndNote X2

  1. Open an EndNote X2 library.
  2. From the Tools menu, select:
    1. EndNote Web… (for X1 and above)
    2. Transfer References (for X.0.2 and below)
  3. Ensure the URL: http://www.myendnoteweb.com/
  4. Enter your connection details for EndNote Web.
  5. Click Next.
  6. On the EndNote Web Transfer References dialog:
  7. Under Desktop:, select the appropriate EndNote desktop library. The currently active library is displayed in the list
  8. Under Web:, select the appropriate EndNote Web folder.
  9. Select “Transfer References from Web to Desktop
  10. Click Transfer.
