1. Searching articles from the web
When you
browse different sites for relevant articles pertaining to your
topic, you may wish to view the full-texts from the URL links displayed
in your search results.
The NUS Libraries have online subscriptions for a large number of the
references
retrieved. To access the full-texts of the required references, you will
have to install the Proxy Bookmarklet.
2. What is a Proxy Bookmarklet?
It is a bookmark that automatically prepends the
NUS Library proxy to the required URL link in your browser.
This allows you to view the URL as though you were on campus, giving you
access to materials licensed for use by NUS staff and students. If you are not authenticated, you
will be
prompted for your NUSNET ID and password.
3. How do I install the Proxy Bookmarklet in
my browser?
For Internet Explorer:
1) Right click on this link: <NUS Libraries Proxy Bookmarklet>.
2) Select "Add to Favorites".
3) If you wish to add to "Links", go to "Favourites" and drag and drop
the bookmarklet to "Links".
Note:
· Alternative installation method for IE7 only: Click and drag the link
to the "Links" toolbar.
· If a warning message: "You are adding a favorite that may not be safe.
Do you want to continue?" appears, click "Yes" to continue.
· If the "Links" toolbar is not visible in the web browser, go to
View->Toolbars menu of the browser to enable it.
For Mozilla Firefox:
1) Right click on this link: <NUS Libraries Proxy Bookmarklet>.
2) Select "Bookmark This Link". Or click and drag the link to the
"Bookmarks" toolbar.
For Safari:
1) Click and drag this link: <NUS Libraries Proxy Bookmarklet> to the
"Bookmarks" bar.

How do I use the Bookmarklet to 'proxy' the URL links in
search results?
Go to the list of
search results and click the required link.

A browser session will open for the link where access to the required
article is restricted.
Click the "NUS Libraries Proxy Bookmarklet" which you have
installed in your Browser toolbar/Bookmark/Favourites.

The
full-text is now accessible.
Note:
You may be prompted to login to the library proxy if you have not
done so previously.
