How to Search JSTOR for Cited References

To locate journal articles that have cited your article, book, book chapter or papers published in full text journals available from JSTOR.

From NUS Libraries homepage, under Major Databases, click on JSTOR.

Alternatively, from LINC, click on TITLE in Journals Collection, and type JSTOR. In the full record display follow the link to View the electronic version (full-text).

Click on SEARCH at the top of the screen (under JSTOR logo). Click on Article Locator.

You are searching for the occurence of your publication in the journal articles. Type some terms that would retrieve your references. E.g. To find articles that have cited Nickell, Stephen. Estimating the Probability of Leaving Unemployment. Econometrica, Vol. 47, No. 5. (Sep., 1979), pp. 1249-1266, type the surname and parts of the article title, book title or journal title.

At the JSTOR Article Locator, type parts of the article title e.g. leaving unemployment in the first box and the surname e.g. Nickell in the second box.

Select All Journals. Click Search at the bottom. This search matches exactly terms in the reference list of each article. The results of the search are heavily dependent on how the references are done.

You will see a record of Stephen Nickell's article.

Click on the article to see the cited references for this article in JSTOR. In this example, there are 51 articles which cite Nickell's article.
