Changes in Law Library CD-ROM Collection

Current Legal Information

This CD-ROM title, announced in the October 1997 issue of LINUS, has had a change in its contents. It now has the following sub-databases:

  • Badger is an index to relevant public domain information like grey paper, official publications and press comment. Coverage is from 1994 onwards.

  • Current Law Case Citator comprises citations of cases reported in published law reports including citations for cases applying or revoking other cases. Coverage is from 1997 onwards.

  • Current Law Cases comprises the Monthly Case Digest entries. It also includes a number of cases digested straight from transcript and cases submitted ex relatione. Coverage is from 1976 onwards.

  • Current Law Case Legislation Citator gives citations for the effect of new legislation on existing legislation. It covers changes to statutes published from 1989 and SIs effected since 1993. It enables you to check whether a piece of legislation has been amended or repealed recently. It also allows you to see whether an item of legislation has been referred to in a case; if so, a double-click jump link is provided from the relevant reference in the Legislator Citator to the appropriate citation in the Case Citator.

  • Financial Journals Index indexes journals on insurance, pensions, banking and finance. Coverage is from 1992 onwards.

  • Inns of Court Catalogue lists most of the library resources of Lincoln's Inn, Inner Temple, Middle Temple and Gray's Inn.

  • Legal Journals Index comprises Legal Journals Index and European Legal Journals Index. Legal Journals Index indexes with abstracts to over 400 periodicals published in the UK. European Legal Journals Index indexes around 85 English language sources on the law of the EC and the European countries. Coverage is from 1986 onwards.

Singapore Law Reports / The Malayan Law Journal on CD-ROM

This existing title is now available on NUSNET.

The following new CD-ROM titles have been added:

Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals

This CD is published by the University of California Press for the American Association of Law Libraries. The CD covers world-wide legal literature, covering non-Anglo American law, including comparative law and legal systems. The database encompasses a variety of document types, including articles from journals, congresses, reports, essay collections and yearbooks. All languages are included. The software used is SiverPlatter WinSPIRS Version 2.0, the same as Index to Legal Periodicals. It is updated quarterly. Coverage is from 1985 onwards.

The Statutes of Malaysia : Including the Annotated Statutes of Malaysia

This new CD is produced by the Malayan Law Journal Sdn Bhd. The software used is Folio Bound VIEWS. It is updated twice a year.

Supreme Court Case Finder

The CD is based on reporting in Supreme Court Cases (India) and other leading Indian law reports. It is not full-text. Cross-citations to other selected journals like All India Reporter (AIR), Income Tax Reports (ITR), Sales Tax Cases (STC), Company Cases (Comp Cas) and other provincial and specialised journals are provided. The case-notes are prepared by the editorial team of Supreme Court Cases. Clicking on case-name shows all other rulings of that case. Its coverage is 1950 onwards and it is updated quarterly.
