Bibliography on Chinese fiction
A new bibliography of popular Chinese fiction in the Chinese Library collection was recently published.
The bibliography is compiled by Mr Lee Ching Seng, Head of Chinese Library and Associate Professor
Kow Mei-Kao of the Dept of Chinese Studies. Entitled
An annotated bibliography of Chinese popular fiction of the Ming-Qing Period in the Collection of the Chinese Library, National University of Singapore,
it is published by the Centre for Research in Chinese Studies, Department of Chinese Studies, National University of Singapore.
This annotated bibliography lists 955 titles with 735 entries of various editions. It has an appendix containing
228 entries acquired by the Chinese Library after the bibliography had gone to press.
Each annotation gives a summary of the contents of the work, its author, its original edition and subsequent reprints or editions,
and variation in the contents, if applicable. Besides books, the bibliography also includes microform
resources, for example the Van Gulik Collection of Rare Chinese books on microfiche.
