New Head of Science Library


Ms Loy Shiow Yong, Assistant Librarian I is appointed Acting Head of Science Library with effect from 1 August 1998. She takes over from Mr Ng Kok Koon.

Loy Shiow Yong Shiow Yong joined the NUS Library in November 1985 as a Trainee Librarian and spent 6 months in Cataloguing Dept in Central Library. She was then posted to Science Library. After obtaining her Diploma in Library and Information Science, she was appointed Assistant Librarian in August 1986. She was promoted to Assistant Librarian I in July 1993.

She graduated from Nanyang University with a BSc, majoring in chemistry and environmental studies. She worked in the Primary Production Department as a Primary Production Officer from 1980 to 1984 and the Columbo Plan Staff College as a Library Officer before joining NUS Library.

Shiow Yong says: "It is a great challenge for me to take up the position as Acting Head of Science Library and I will do my best to ensure that Science Library continues to run efficiently."
