New Head of Cataloguing in Central Library
Ms Zaleha Othman, Assistant Librarian I, is appointed Acting Head of Cataloguing, Technical Services Division with effect from 1 September 1998. She takes over from Mrs Gan-Woo Yong Chuen.
Zaleha joined the Library as a Trainee Librarian in May 1983 after getting her B.A. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore. The Cataloguing Department was her first posting until September 1985 with a short stint in Reference Department before she left to pursue her Masters in Arts (Librarianship)at the University of Sheffield sponsored by NUS. After her return in October 1986, she was posted to the Law Library until January of 1990. From January of 1990, she has been in Cataloguing, Technical Services Division. She was promoted to Assistant Librarian in January 1987 and to Assistant Librarian I in January 1995. Since her posting to Cataloguing, Zaleha was in charge of cataloguing the Singapore/Malaysia titles as well as the NUS theses titles. She also helped in the data preparation for the migration of the Library automation system from MINISIS to URICA and from URICA to INNOPAC, our current system. She was also the leader of the Work Improvement Team (WIT) in the Technical Services Division.
