CD-ROM on Windows & Dow Jones
Central Library RIS Dept
We have moved CD-ROM on Windows and Dow Jones onto NT servers in August 98. This is to facilitate access for users logging in via the secure Plug-n-Play points installed all over campus.
Each CD-ROM accessible on NUSNET now uses the Windows version of the search software, which is more user-friendly. We have consolidated the CD-ROMs on NUSNET so that you only need to buy CD-ROM on Windows when you go Windows Shopping. CD-ROM Access which uses DOS is no longer available.
To use CD-ROM on Windows, you must also be logged in to
Microsoft Networking or Microsoft Exchange. If your NUSNET password is synchronised with your Microsoft Networking password, there is no problem. If you have different passwords for NUSNET and Microsoft Networking, and you did not login to both, when you start any CD-ROM title in CD-ROM on Windows, you will get this error message:
Network component not started 1203
Similiarly, if you are not logged in to Microsoft Networking, you will not be able to access Dow Jones.
You will need to logout of NUSNET and login all over again to both NUSNET and Microsoft Networking.
