Access 'Free' Online LWW Medical Journals at Medical Library

Tay Chiew Boon ~ Medical Library

You may occassionally come across a LWW (Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins) journal record in LINC, similar to the one below:

To access such an online journal, please approach the Information Officer on duty in the Medical Library. Alternately, contact the Medical Library Information Officer via email or telephone 6874-2046.

The information officer will log on to the journal’s website and assist you in downloading the articles that you need. Do bring along a floppy or zip disk (100Mb) to download the articles you need. If you need to print, do remember to bring along your cashcard. Please observe the Copyright Act when downloading.

If the journal issue that you are looking for is available both in print and online, we strongly encourage you to refer to the print version housed in the Medical Library’s periodical collection. This is because online access is limited to only one workstation in the library due to the licensing agreement. Some publishers restrict usage to a ‘single-workstation’ or a ‘four-walled’ access for the building which houses the print copy. For some journals, the mode of access provided by the publisher requires authentication by ID and password. Hence, access to these journals is only available in the Medical Library.

We hope that having access to these LWW electronic journals in the Medical Library would give you important academic information in the most economical way.
