ANI-CD Arthropod Name Index on CD-ROM 1996The Arthropod Name Index (ANI) is an electronic database developed by CAB International (CABI). It currently contains 110,000 names (records) of agricultural arthropods, most of which are insects. Other groups include mites, spiders and millipedes. ANI also provides a name index to some 80 years of scientific literature. Every name published in Review of Agricultural Entomology since 1913 is included in ANI, together with the volume numbers of the records in which it has been cited. In this database you are able to search using any name, species epithet, genus group, family group, order group, class, author and common name. Biochemistry
Cabikey: Indo-Australasian Dacini Fruit FliesIt includes data on all valid species of Dacini found in the Oriental, Australasian and Pacific areas. It covers 507 valid species of Dacini with the exception of about 150 African non-pest species. All the 507 species are illustrated. A multiple entry key approach is designed as part of the program for easy navigation. Cabikey: Mosquito Genera of the WorldThis CD-ROM is designed to enable identification and also as an information source to the genus level of all mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) of the world. Two separate databases are included:
In this database, you can use various characteristics like physical, geographic, head, thoracic, leg, wing, abdominal, siphon and combination features to identify mosquitoes. CATLABCATLAB allows you to select and mate cats based on color, pattern and tail status, and to observe the extensive range of colors and patterns in the kittens produced. It will help you design experiments to understand the principles of genetics and gain practice in scientific reasoning and inquiry. The program requires a basic knowledge of Mendelian genetics and familiarity with the colors and patterns of domestic cats. CIS Multinational Companies 2002- Chemicals and PetrochemicalsThis CD-ROM is published by CIS Commercial Intelligence Service, a division of Business Monitor International Ltd. The information on the chemical and petrochemical companies includes Nationality, Products and Services (Chemicals and Petrochemicals), Business Activity Description, Number of Employees, Address, Country, Job Title. You may perform combination searches using some of the above company data by clicking on the Search icon 9 in the menu bar. Series of CD-ROMs for Plant DiseasesThis series of plant disease CD-ROMs is presented by the American Phytopathological Society (APS), an international scientific organization devoted to the study of plant diseases and their control.
Focus on GeneticsThis is an interactive simulation genetics database presented by EME Corporation. It has four programs:
Lumière Synchroton LightSynchroton Light is an interactive and detailed introduction to the physics and technology of the generation of coherent radiation from accelerators with wide spread high-tech applications in science, medicine and engineering. It has multiple hypertexts links that permit an easy exploration of the CD-ROM. The Physical WorldThis is a physics interactive multimedia database by The Open University with questions and answers. It comprises 3 series:
It is organized into 8 books:
T 305 Digital Communications CD-ROMT305 is The Open University’s level 3 course on Digital Communications, produced by their Faculty of Technology. It is an interactive multimedia database with questions and answers. The CD-ROM is organized into 6 major blocks: 1) Representing systems–covering finite state machines, object-oriented models and specification, descriptive language on SDL 2) Synchronous digital hierarchy and probability & reliability 3) Sinusoids & Fourier series and information theory 4) Routing & switching and traffic theory 5) Channel coding, pulses & systems and modulation 6) Signal impairments. Taxakey: Aphids on the World’s CropsThis CD-ROM has been designed to enable identification of the species level of the majority of aphids (Homoptera: Aphididae) found on crops throughout the world.
