Calculus Live
This is an interactive electronic version of the published book entitled Calculus: Single Variable. Comprising a number of interactive tools for solving a wide range of calculus problems, it allows you to modify the graphics and tables, change the function used or the range of values used. The special tools include those for differentiating or integrating a function or for plotting a function within a specified range.
The Electronic Handbook of Optical Constants of Solids (HOC)
This program contains 143 key materials and full-text information designed for researchers working with dielectric materials, including metals, semi-conductors and insulators. The main features of HOC include:
- Calculation Pathways which allow you to compute transmittance, refractive index and extend the range of experimental values using algorithms.
- Graphics which allow you to compare, view and analyze data from different sources in 2D and 3D graphs.
- Database Pathways which allows direct access to information like the periodic table, thermo-optical coefficients and optical parameters.
Encyclopedia of Material Tensors
The Encyclopedia of Material Tensors on CD-ROM is a database on the symmetry properties of material tensors. It contains information on symmetry properties of over 130,000 material tensors, for tensors of ranks from two to seven. It is useful for research in material science, crystallography, optics, nonlinear optics, elasticity, electric and magnetic phenomena, mining and civil engineering.
FishBase 2000
Funded mainly through European Commission, FishBase is a global fishes database developed by International Center For Living Aquatic Resources Management (ICLARM) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). FishBase 2000 covers over 25,000 species of fishes illustrated with pictures. It contains data on the biology of fishes to cater to different professionals such as research scientists, fisheries managers, zoologists, ecologists, aqua culturists, geneticists among others.
FishBase contains information on diet composition, trophic levels, food consumption, genetic traits, culture experiments, allele frequencies and proximate analysis. Currently, FishBase is available on the Internet through a different interface at: http://www.fishbase.org/search.cfm
Food Chemicals Codex
The Food Chemicals Codex CD-ROM provides the accepted standards for quality and purity in food chemicals. It contains the full-text of the standards and allows the user to search for chemical names and synonyms, molecular formula, molecular weight, CAS number, description, functional use in foods, requirements and uses. It consists of the following sections:
- General provisions and requirements applying to specifications, tests, and essays
- Monographs specifications
- Flavor chemicals
- Infrared spectra
- General tests and essays
Handbook of Environmental Data on Organic Chemicals
The Handbook of Environmental Data on Organic Chemicals CD-ROM contains essential environmental data for over 3,000 potentially dangerous organic chemicals. You are able to find information on each chemical's properties-physical appearance, air pollution factors-conversion factors, water and soil pollution factors-biodegration processess and biological effects-residual concentrations.
An Illustrated Dictionary of Fish and Shellfish
This CD-ROM contains over 770 commercially important species of fish and shellfish for people who are involved in the international fishing trade, fisheries science and fish biology. Each entry has a colour illustration, a detailed map of where the species is found, optimum size and weight, catching method and a grading of eating quality. The name of each species is given in 21 languages including the scientific and family names.
MathCAD 2000 Professional
MathCAD 2000 Professional is a calculation software. It allows you to integrate text, math and graphics into a single worksheet, which makes the worksheet easy to visualize, illustrate and annotate all your calculation work. It has features such as visualization capabilities with 2D and 3D plotting, CAD packages like AutoCAD and MicroStation. There is a Resource Center in MathCAD that gives access to tutorials as well as many useful formulas, data values, and reference materials.
Physical-Chemical Properties and Environmental Fate (Handbook)
Contains the full-text of the handbook containing physical-chemical data for similarly structured groups of chemical substances which influence their fate in the multimedia environment of air, water, soils, sediments, and resident biota. It covers compounds such as monoaromatic hydrocarbons, chlorobenzenes, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated dioxins dibenzofurans and sulfur-containing compounds.
Southern Aquatic Plants
It contains 300 aquatic plant images of 196 species in 67 families. All slides are annotated and searchable using: Scientific name, common name, habitat and date modified. You are allowed to modify the slides annotation. Features include sort and find, export text, drag and drop images.
Surface and Colloid Chemistry Handbook
This handbook on CD-ROM is the work of an international group of scientists who joined forces to produce this comprehensive source on the chemistry of surface and colloid systems. It summarizes the most recent developments in theoretical and applicable research and includes topics such as surface and interfacial tension of liquids, surface tension of solids (polymers), emulsions, colloidal formation and stability, adsorption on solids, foams and thin films.
