Not sure how to search PubMed? How to check the impact factor of a scientific journal? How to find the number of cited reference of a published scientific paper?
If you encounter such questions, do not worry. You can make a beeline to our Life Sciences Online Tutorial (LSOT), a Web page found in Library Instruction ONline (LION). Here you can learn, at your own pace, how to search a particular database.

The Web page is jointly produced by the staff of Medical Library and Science Library. At the LSOT Web page, we have hyperlinks to online tutorials for 14 Life Sciences databases and these are - BIOSIS/Compendex/Science Direct, Biotechnology Abstracts, The Cochrane Library, Journal Citation Index, Current Contents Connect Online, Journal Citation Report, Proquest Digital Dissertations, Medline/PubMed, Micromedex Healthcare Series, SciFinder Scholar Online, Toxicology Tutor, Web of Science and Zoological Records on CD-ROM.
The popular databases like PubMed, Web of Science, SciFinder Scholar Online, have many online tutorials available on the Internet. For databases with more than one online tutorial, we rank the list of tutorials with the recommended tutorial on top. If there is an online tutorial by the National University of Singapore (NUS) Library, you may find this more helpful because it shows you, step-by-step, how to access the database on NUSNET. In addition, it also explains how to use the different search features of the database.
At the LSOT Web page, you have the convenience of choosing your favourite Tutor. Furthermore, Online Tutorials are available 7x24 hours per week. Thus, you can access them anytime and anywhere and with just a few clicks, you learn how to search the database immediately.
