Lim-Yeo Pin Pin, Assistant Librarian I with the Reference & Information
Services Dept in Central Library, was awarded the 1999 Suggestion of
the Year Award under the administrative/computer and library
professionals category. Pin Pin put in a
suggestion entitled Having running heads on the NUS Courses and Curriculum
booklets. She was awarded $200 cash and a Certificate of Commendation
which came as a very pleasant surprise.
Pin Pin, who is also the editor of the NUS Library newsletter
LINUS, came up with the suggestion when she encountered many NUS
graduates coming back to the Library to make copies of the courses
they took as undergraduates to support their applications for further
studies. The course descriptions they copied looked like they could be
those offered by any university and could be for any year. She thought it
would be useful to have the university's name with the academic year
running across all the pages thereby making the source more distinct.
