WELCOME TO HSSML'S ENTREPRENEURSHIP BIBLIOGRAPHY - Action Community for
Entrepreneurship web page !

Excerpts from May 27, 2003 Straits Times article (page 4) entitled "New business ? Top guns will share
their Aces" :

"BUSINESSMEN ranging from tycoons to technopreneurs have teamed up with the public sector to give
budding entrepreneurs a very special helping hand. The voluntary group's list of 23 members [includes
Mr Raymond Lim, Minister of State (Trade & Industry, Foreign Affairs); Mr Kwek Leng Beng of Hong
Leong Group, Mr Inderjit Singh of Infiniti Solutions; Ms Elim Chew of 77th Street; Dr Loo Choon Yong
of Raffles Medical Group; Mr Patrick Daniel of Singapore Press Holdings and others]. "

"[These] busy achievers have come together to spur Singapore's entrepreneurial spirit by dispensing
hard, practical advice and also offering a sympathetic shoulder to lean on."

"It wants to act as a peer support group and will hold informal networking sessions - BlueSky Evenings
- to bring together would-be and successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, bankers and
consultants.

These will be held on the first Friday of every month, starting July 4.

Skylight Chat, chaired by Mr Lim, will bring up ideas, issues and seek help on problems in roundtable
discussions with ACE members.

The group is also looking at lowering entrepreneurs' start-up costs by introducing an entrepreneur
home office scheme so they can work from home.

ACE has already set up five sub-groups to target specific areas, called Action Crucibles. The heads
of these groups have been dubbed 'Igniters of Change', or ICs.

Rules that need to be changed or simplified will be identified by a group headed by Mr Patrick Daniel,
journalist and former civil servant. He is Singapore Press Holdings' managing editor of its English and
Malay newspapers division.

Entrepreneur and MP Inderjit Singh is head of the group that will look at improving access to financing
for businessmen.

Fostering a more entrepreneurial culture is the job assigned to a section led by Dr Loo Choon Yong,
executive chairman of Raffles Medical Group.

Finding ways of attracting global entrepreneurs, including Singaporeans abroad, to set up shop here
will be tackled by a team under businessman Mr Ong Peng Tsin.

Mr Richard Lai, boss of online financial services group dollarDEX, is IC of a group looking at helping
entrepreneurs in intellectual property protection and finding ways for its commercialisation.

ACE can be reached at: ace@entrepreneurs.org.sg"
