Files which are in the .zip or .tar format will need to be uncompressed using programs such as WinZip. WinZip is available via NUSNET from:
- Windows Shopping (under 'Utilities')
- WebShopping (under 'General Services')
Follow the instructions to install WinZip on your computer.
How to Unzip a file
- When you click on the hyperlink to the .zip file on your browser, you will be prompted to download the file. Save the file to a temporary folder on your computer.
- Next, go to Start --> Programs --> WinZip to launch the program.
- In WinZip, click on the 'Open' icon
- Select the .zip file which you have downloaded.
- Click 'Open'
- The .zip file will be uncompressed into the original format.
- If you have the correct file extension associated with the uncompressed file (e.g. pdf files are associated with Acrobat Reader), you can double-click on the file to view it.
Follow the same instructions above to unzip a .tar file.
