Certain files such as the U.S. Patents full-text images available through the USPTO website are available in TIFF format. They can be viewed using a TIFF viewer which can be downloaded from the Internet.
The TIFF image browser plug-ins are available for download from:
- InterneTIFF
(for IE/Netscape)
Free download. - AlternaTIFF
(for IE/Netscape)
Free download. Registration required. - QuickTime (for Mac)
- Plugger (for LINUX)
Follow the instructions to install the plug-in on your computer.
How to view the TIFF image
- Search the USPTO database for the required patent grant or patent application.
- After locating the required patent information, click on the patent title or patent number to retrieve the patent details.
- Click on the 'Images' icon available at the top or bottom of the page.
- The full-text TIFF images will be automatically displayed in a viewer within your browser window.
