What are E-Reserves?
E-Reserves contain the electronic form of recommended readings (chapter
of books and articles or personal tutorial notes). When a teaching staff
recommends a particular chapter of a book or an article from a journal for
E-Reserve , library staff will scan the readings and convert it into a PDF
file format which will then be loaded to IVLE.

How can I search materials in
IVLE?
- Logon to Integrated Virtual Learning Environment (IVLE) at
https://ivle.nus.edu.sg/.
- Search for the particular course website by module no.; module
title; department or lecturer’s name. Within each course website,
'E-reserves' is listed under Resources. Recommended readings
may be in the form of PDF file or a URL link.
- As the recommended readings are stored in Adobe PDF (Portable
Document Format) files your computer should support Adobe Acrobat
program to access the readings.

How long will the readings
be kept in E-Reserves?
In compliance with copyright requirements, the readings will be kept
for one semester.

Who has access to readings in
E-Reserves?
Only staff and students registered for a particular course has access
to the readings. Registered course participants can access the readings in
IVLE anywhere at anytime of the day.
Course participants are allowed only one access
during each semester. The access could be downloading, printing or
viewing; user doing any of one of the activities will be deemed to have
one access already. Please note, opening the PDF file of a
recommended text and browsing it, is equivalent to downloading the
reading.

Current readings in the RBR
collection
Apart from recommended text books, the RBR collection will continue to
house hardcopies of chapters of books and articles of journals recommended
by teaching staff. A copy of the reading will not be kept in the RBR
collection once a copy is available in IVLE.

materials downloaded from IVLE.
Copyright is a serious matter and any failure to observe the Copyright
Act may expose you to liability. More details regarding copyright
