ArtsBuzz

The ArtsBuzz is located near the entrance, next to Perk Point.  It showcases artworks by NUS staff and students.  The exhibitions are only open to NUS staff, students and NUS Libraries members only.
 

InfoCommons

The InfoCommons comprises the following:

Computer Based Learning Cluster (CBLC)
These networked PCs may be used by staff and students with a valid NUSNET account.   For a list of other PC clusters available on campus, please click here.
 
Network points
Staff and students can connect their notebooks to the network points to access the NUS network.

CDROM workstations
The CD-ROM Workstations may only be used with CD-ROMs issued by Loans Desk 2.

E-Resources workstations
These workstations may be used to access electronic resources such as journals, Examination Papers, PERIND, as well as databases available via NUSNET (CDROMS on Windows).  

Printing facilities are available at the InfoCommons.  Payment is by cashcard.  The sale and top-up of cashcards are available at the Photocopy Room located on the same level.
 

LINC Terminals

LINC contains the online Library INtegrated Catalogue of the NUS Libraries. It contains records of books, journals, theses, conference proceedings, microforms, AV materials, and CD-ROMs available in all the NUS libraries. You can also check your library records for information about your loans, requests, fines, etc. 

LINC is available through the Internet at http://linc.nus.edu.sg/ . For instructions on how to search LINC, go to the online guide, LION, at http://www.lib.nus.edu.sg/lion/l/  
 

Loans & Membership Office

The Office handles matters such as:
  • Loans of library materials
  • Items lost and found in the Library
  • Interlibrary loan requests (for NUS academic staff and higher degree students)
  • Enquiries on library membership
  • Application for external membership
  • Reporting change of address

Loans Desk

The Loans Desks provide the following services:

* Request for RBR collection

Loans Desk 2
* Request for CDROM, multimedia and microforms

Loans Desk 3
*Request for CDs (accompanying materials) *Request and pickup Closed Stacks items
*Borrow requested items that are ready for collection (on Holdshelf)
*Check-in, check-out, renew/re-borrow books

Loans Desk 4
*Loans & Membership Enquiries
*Booking of Carrels / Seminar Rooms / Theatrettes
*Current SMC / Selected Journals
*Report of lost cards (matriculation, staff or membership cards)
 

Microform Viewing

The Microform collection comprising microfilm, microfiche and microcard, issued by the Loans Desk can be viewed in the Microform Viewing Room. To print from microform documents, please proceed to the Photocopy Room located on the same level.
 

Multimedia Viewing

The Viewing Room enables staff and students to make use of the audio-visual resources in the Library.  Equipment available include:
  • Video cassette recorders (VCR)
  • Laser Disk, Audio CD, VCD and DVD Players
  • Sound cassette player
  • Slides projector
  • PCs for Video-On-Demand services
  • PCs for Multimedia CDs 

New Books Displays

The New Books Displays showcase recently catalogued books which may be checked out immediately.  For a list of new books and audiovisual materials available at the Library, please refer to the New Additions list.

 

 

 

Perk Point

This area features cozy seats where you can unwind.  Light refreshment is available from vending machines within the premises.

 

Reserve Books/Readings (RBR)

The Reserve Books/Readings (RBR) Collection contains materials recommended by teaching staff as essential reading.  They are available for loan only to teaching staff and students for a period of two hours or overnight after 8.00 pm.  Please approach Loans Desk 1 to request for RBR materials.

Reception Desk

The Reception Desk is located at the entrance of the Central Library.  Please approach our duty officers if you have any enquiries.

 

Self-Service Book Drop

The Self-Service Book Drop enables you to return library books without having to queue at the Loans Desk. 

 

Self-Service Borrowing

The Self-Service Borrowing stations enables you to check-out library books without having to queue at the Loans Desk.

 

Self-Service Photocopying

This service is operated by a commercial vendor. The machines accept coins and cashcards.  The sale and top-up of cashcards are available here.  Please observe the Copyright Act and the Rules on Photocopying.
 

Seminar Rooms

There are two seminar rooms available:
1) Seminar Room 1 (seats 10)
2) Seminar Room 2 (seats 18)

NUS staff may make booking enquiries by calling the Loans & Membership Office at 6872-1595.

Theatrettes

The Theatrettes are used for group viewing of audio-visual materials and for conducting Library orientation and tutorials.
1) Theatrette 1 (seats 148)
2) Theatrette 2 (seats 70)
