- Librarian's Resource
Center: the toolbox by the SLA Toronto Chapter provides a "selective collection
of resources compiled to facilitate informational research and retrieval." It
contains links to directories, ready reference, topical guides, library catalogues, etc.
It also provides links to Professional Development and Technical resources.
- Library
Spot features a collection of useful reference resources such as
acronyms, calendars, dictionaries, statistics, etc. It also
provides links to libraries, special listings such as top books, college
rankings, and answers to reference questions.
- Refdesk.com contains
research tools such as newspapers, searchable dictionaries, almanacs, weather reports,
stock quotes, etc.
- Research-It
by I-Tools provides searchable databases categorized into language, library, geographical,
financial, shipping & mailing, Internet tools.
- USCD Libraries
Reference Shelves contains a collection of reference resources including biographical
information, dictionaries & thesauri, encyclpedias, style manuals, etc.
- Yahoo's
Reference has links to a wide variety of resources such as almanacs, encyclopedia,
quotations, thesauri, web directories, etc.

Virtual Technical Reports Center by the University of Maryland
Universities features alphabetical listings of full-text technical
reports, preprints, reprints, dissertations, theses and research
reports. It is updated weekly.

Useful Site of the Day features annotated
links to sites on personal finance, reference, entertainment, education,
travel,
medical/legal, politics/government, household, health, shopping, etc.

Encyclopaedias
- Encyclopędia Brittanica
Online includes the complete encyclopedia, as well as Merriam-Webster's Collegiate
Dictionary and the Britannica Book of the Year. You can also use EB Online to search an
Internet directory that includes more than 130,000 links to Web sites selected, rated, and
reviewed by Britannica editors.
Note: This is a subscribed title available to NUS Staff and
Students.
- Encyclopedia.com is
a searchable database containing over 14,000 articles from The Concise Columbia Electronic
Encyclopedia.
- Encarta Concise Free
Encyclopedia by MSN provides free access to selected articles. Premium content
such as multimedia and periodical articles requires a subscription.

- Atlapedia Online
"contains full color physical and political maps as well as key facts and statistics
on countries of the world."
- CIA World Factbook
contains reference maps and country profiles. Information featured includes the
country's geography, people, government, economy, communications, transportation, military
and transnational issues.

Thesauri
- Academic
Press Dictionary of Science & Technology is the "largest
scientific dictionary ever compiled in the English language to the
Web." It contains over 130,000 terms in 130 fields of
science, including engineering, life, medical, physical, mathematical,
computer and social sciences.
- Dictionary.Com
enables you to search words, chemical elements, bible names, US cities and zip codes, and
information on countries. It also has quotations and links to web directories
categorized by topics.
- Infoplease.com enables
you to search or browse almanacs by regions or topics. You can also search the
Columbia Encyclopedia and biographies.
