Virtual Libraries

Virtual libraries have been created to give easy access to materials found on the Internet. Listed here are the general virtual libraries.

  • Carrie is a full text electronic library by University of Kansas. It has pointers to the full text of reference materials, selected books and more.

The following sites also offer a wide range of links to find information on a variety of subjects.

  • Argus Clearinghouse a selective collection of topical guides. Maintained by Argus Associates and University of Michigan.
  • BUBL Link has many annotated Web sites arranged by Dewey Decimal classification. Maintained by Andersonian Library, Strathclyde University.
  • eBLAST is a selective collection of web sites on some topics. Maintained by Encyclopedia Britannica.
  • INFOMINE is a searchable collection of 'academically valuable resources'. Maintained by University of California.
  • Internet Scout Report contains evaluated resources on the Web on various topics such as Business and Economics, Science & Engineering, Social Sciences,  It also features current awareness services.  Maintained by the University of Wisconsin.
  • Librarian's Index to the Internet compiles lists of annotated Internet sites when you click on a topic or your own keywords. Maintained by California State Library.
  • Web Sites by Subject gives Web sites arranged in more than 50 categories with lots of linkages to other relevant categories. Maintained by University of Pennsylvania Library.
