  • Asia On Demand covers a wide range of topics on eleven countries in Asia.  It also features news, leisure information, in-depth guides, a chatroom, and searchable resources categorized by country and topic.
  • Asia Pacific Management Forum is published by Orient Pacific Century.  It has sections on research and market intelligence in Asia, as well as a section on street intelligence which focuses on topics such as doing business in Asia and understanding cultural differences.
     
  • AsiaSource: a Resource of the Asia Society is developed by the Asia Society.  It provides links to news, business resources, food, country profiles, calendars, glossary, and even a searchable database on specialists in Asian culture, arts, history and society.
  • Asiaco.com is a search engine for Asia-related information.  It features links to information on government, business, economy, arts, education, etc. of various countries in Asia.
  • Asian American Net seeks to "promote and strengthen cultural, educational and commercial ties between Asia and North America."  This site features links to business information, magazines, directories and research information for various countries and regions in Asia.
  • Asian Connection
    Maintained by Singapore Network Services Pte Ltd, this site contains links to various sites for Asia and the world. Information is organised by categories such as trade & business opportunities, travel & leisure, stocks and real estate, health matters and online shopping.
  • Asian Demographic Datafile
    Created and maintained by Asian Demographics Ltd., this database is a "unique single source of information on the demographic and socioeconomic trends of 12 Asian countries from 1970 to 1996." It contains demographic profiles, forecasts and household income for the various countries.
  • Asian Educational Media Service
    Created and maintained by the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  This database contains over 2500 records containing information about education media for use in learning and teaching about Asia.
  • Hindustan: Global India Search
    A search engine for resources on India provided by Hindustan Network Classified Ad Search. Contains annotated links to various aspects of India, including arts, business, life, culture, economy, social welfare, tourism, transport, etc.
  • SouthAsia World Resources: The South Asian Search Engine
    Maintained by the SouthAsia Network, this site is a search engine for South Asia resources. Annotated links may also be navigated by countries and topics such as agriculture, people, technology research, transport, water, industries, etc.
    Countries covered include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tibet.
  • Southeast Asia web: Southeast Asian studies
    Maintained by Stephen Arod Shirreffs, this site contains links to Southeast Asian websites including newspapers and magazines, academic resources, business, art, music and culture resources.
  • WWW Virtual Library : Asian Studies
    Provides a "large-scale, subject-oriented scholarly guide to Internet resources in Asian studies." Maintained by the Australian National University, it contains a comprehensive directory of over 10,000 sites on Asia including resources
    such as archives, library catalogs, bibliographies, electronic journals and mailing lists.

News & Newspapers

  • Asia Times Online is a daily publication covering news on Asia with special emphasis on politics, economics and business.
  • CNN's AsiaNow has a list of online news resources for Asia, categorized into East Asia, SouthEast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and Australasia.  It contains articles published in the current edition of Asiaweek and Time Asian Edition in addition to those broadcast by CNN International to Asia.  It has its own columnists on Asian politics, Asian Business and Technology as well as live news feed from global news agencies like AP and Reuters.
  • Kidon Media-Link provides an index to news sources from Asia.  Sources include newspapers, Internet news publications, radio and television stations.
