The Booker Prize represents the very best of contemporary fiction. One of the world's most famous literary prizes, it continues to be the ultimate accolade for every fiction writer. Established by Booker plc in 1968, the prize aims to reward the best novel of the year. Any full-length novel, written by a citizen of the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland and published in the considered year, is eligible for the Prize. The Booker judges are selected from the country's leading critics, writers and academics to maintain the consistent excellence of the prize.

We present below the Booker Prize Winners from 1990 – 2000 and the books written by them that are available in the library for your enjoyment. All titles listed are in the Central Library Main Shelves unless otherwise indicated.  This list is also available in PDF version (38KB).

You may wish to refer to our other two vacation reading lists for 2001, namely, the Nobel Literature Laureates List and the Non-Fiction List.
