ABI/ Inform Complete [Web]
A comprehensive database of
business, management, finance, accounting, economics, public administration,
etc. Indexes over 2400 journals. Full text coverage is available from 1991 for
many of the journals. Backfiles of abstracts are also available from 1971.
Updated daily.
Bibliography of Asian Studies [Web]
Covers articles, book chapters
and conference papers on all aspects of Asia published since 1971. Arranged by
country and subdivided by subject areas such as Economics, Politics and
government, etc.
Business Source Premier [Web]
Contains indexing and
abstracts for more than 3,800 journals relating to business, finance, management
and economics. Linked to thousands of full text articles. Updated daily.
EconLit [Web]
It provides abstracts and
bibliographic citations to articles in the field of economics including consumer
economics, monetary policy, labor, marketing, demographics, modeling, and
economic theory. The records in the database are drawn from over 550
international journals, books, dissertations, book reviews, essays, research
papers, and working papers. Updated monthly.
Current Contents
Connect [Web] Allows users to search for new journal articles from all seven
editions of Current Contents, which include the life sciences, arts &
humanities as well as the social & behavioral sciences.
ERIC [Web]
Provides extensive access to
articles on educational-related literature.
Expanded Academic
ASAP [web] From the arts and the humanities to the social sciences, science and
technology, this database meets research needs across all disciplines. Provides
access to scholarly journals, news magazines and newspapers.
Updated monthly.
IntIEc (index to international
economics, development and finance) [CD-ROM]
Includes citations with
abstracts to journal articles and research papers. Subject coverage includes
international development; global economics trends and monetary policy. Updated
quarterly.
International Bibliography of
the Social Sciences [Web]
Contains bibliographic
information from an international selection of publications (including over 2600
journals) in the fields of economics, political science, sociology, and
anthropology.
PAIS [CD-ROM]
Index to journal articles,
books, government documents on a broad spectrum of subjects which includes the
social sciences, business, finance and public administration.
Perind Contains
citations of periodical articles, book chapters and conference papers relating

Social Sciences
Abstracts [Web] Coverage includes subject areas in Economics, Sociology,
Political science and Public Welfare. Abstracting coverage begins with periodicals
published in January 1994.
Social Sciences Citation
Index [Web] Provides bibliographic data and cited references to articles,
reports of meetings, letters and editorials published in journals. Abstracts
provided from 1991 and subject area covers the social sciences.
Sociological Abstracts
[Web] Indexes the international literature in sociology and related
disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences. Includes subject areas
such as policy, planning, forecast and speculation. Provides abstracts of
journal articles and citations to book reviews drawn from over 1,700 serials
publications, as well as provides abstracts of books, book chapters,
dissertations, and conference papers.
Social Services Abstracts [Web]
Provides bibliographic
coverage of current research focused on social work, human services, and related
areas, including social welfare, social policy, health policy and community
development. The database abstracts and indexes over 1,406 serials publications
and includes abstracts of journal articles and dissertations, and citations to
book reviews.
Social Work Abstracts Plus
[Web] Contains more than 26,000 records, spanning 1977 to the
present, from social work and other related journals on topics such as
homelessness, child and family welfare, aging and more.
Transport [CD-ROM]
Combines the databases of 3
leading research organizations: OECD's International Road Research
Documentation; ECMT TRANSDOC database; TRB Transportation Research Information
Services.

Factiva [Web] For
searching and obtaining the full text articles from major world newspapers such
as New York Times, Financial Times and others as well as journals. The Straits
Times and Business Times articles covered are from Jan 1995.
LexisNexis Academic [Web]
Another database for searching
and obtaining the full text newspaper articles from Washington Post, Financial
Times and other newspapers and journals. The issues covered for the Straits
Times and Business Times are from May 1992.
Press Clippings
Located in the Singapore -
Malaysia Collection, Central Library. iA useful source for topical and current
information, not available in journal articles or books. Articles on Singapore,
Malaysia, Brunei and ASEAN from The Straits Times and Business Times
are arranged by broad subjects chronologically. A copy of Press clippings
subject headings is also available near the collection.
